Complex aromas of smoky red fruits, tobacco, gunflint, roasted nuts and earth. Juicy and fresh but also sweet and mellow, with noteworthy concentration of flavor from the small grapes here. The serious tannins will require a good five or six years of bottle aging. Grivot's Echezeaux, from holdings in Les Cruots and Les Rouges, is routinely one of the finest examples from this appellation. (ST) - VM
